The Old Boatman (arr. Dana Perna)

Originally for piano, this lyric work is a shining presentation of Prices signature style. It is reminiscent of Edvard Grieg, specifically his Lyric Pieces, and 19 Norwegian Folk Tunes, Op. 66. The first statement is in E-flat Major, then modulates to F major. Although short, the piece requires mature musicality, secure intonation and vibrato from your ensemble, with delicate dynamics and rubato. There are brief solos for oboe and euphonium.
