Composed as a memorial piece for a beloved teacher and friend, tender melodies and lush harmonies combine in this moving and lyrical work for mature ensembles. “Stella Maris” is a Latin term for Polaris, the North Star, with its symbolic role as “the star that protects and guides.” It’s this reference that serves as the inspiration and premise of this emotional and rewarding work.
